Granada Weather

Granada has a Continental Mediterranean climate, cool in winter with heavy frosts and hot summers with maximum temperatures above 35 ° C. In one day the temperatures can vary up to 20 ° Celsius. Rain is unusual in the summer; it concentrates in the winter and is rare during the rest of the year. These peculiar features are due to its location between mountain ranges, and its average altitude of about 685 meters above sea level.

Granada average temperature is 15.1 ° C.  Winter goes from December through February with minimum temperatures below 10 ° C., January being the coldest month. Summer is also a long season, with average temperatures above 20 ° C. during the months of June to September. The warmest month is July with 34.4 ° C.
The coldest and warmer months take place at the beginning of the seasons, a clear example of the distance from the sea and its thermal softening action, further attenuated by the barrier effect of mountain ranges. Even in April the average minimum temperature is 5.6 ° C, existing in this month frost risk.
